Get Physical - Bloop recs - Internatinal Deejay Gigolos / Thessaloniki, Greece

Actor One is a music production project of Ison and Christos Mavridis and its purpose is to move your body through your ears first. Based In Thessaloniki, Greece they have been Djing on their own separate projects pushing dance music forward in the country through the established NON collective, however it is not more than a year since they have decided to work together on music. Sharing the same passion for music based on house and detroit grooves they have created and developed their own electronic sound.

Actor One were formed back in 2008. With early releases with a different studio partner on labels such as International Deejay Gigolos and Bloop recs Actor One received support from artists such as Agoria, Heidi, Hell, Danny Tenaglia, Osunlade, Brothers Vibe, Laurent Garnier, JImpster to name a few. They have also remixed Fischerspooner on their " Supply & Demand " single. A quiet period has followed when Actor One have been reformed with Ison & Christos Mavridis this time and looked for new musical pathways. And today they are back better than ever .

Their official return on discography is coming through a contribution of an exclusive track on Heidi's " Jackathlon" compilation which is going to be released in June 2011 on Get Physical records. However expect for more things to come soon from AO.

With a broad musical background which varies from jazz, Chicago / Detroit house, to 80's synths & techno Actor One have been reworking their music by improvising constantly in the studio. Their musical blend of house, minimalism and jazz is easily identified. However there is also more serious approach on their music with deep and heavy basslines using " black " surprise vocals, ready for packed dancefloors.

Keinemusik | Souvenir | Liebe*Detail | Rockets and Ponies // Berlin (DE)

Techno?s biggest flaw is its self-referencial tendency. You know the deal, the common
contemporary DJ/Producer steals an Underground Resistance-Record from his older brother
at the age of 16 (biographical details may vary, not to impair the facts, though), thus
presuming to have found the holy grail (what, of course, nobody is claiming to deny).
His world is shrinking down to Detroit, Chicago, New York and Berlin within the following
years, he?ll equip himself with records and turntables and not look over the rim of his MKII
ever again. Adam Ports biography is different. Adam was Hardcore, when he was 16. No, not
Rotterdam-Hardcore. We?re talking New York-, Boston- and Washington D.C.-Hardcore here.
It?s a past that he still lives up to, cultivating it in his vegetarian-straight-edge-lifestyle.
After that there was HipHop. He got in touch with turntablism, discovered his love for vinyl and
evolved to be a skilled DJ for the first time. Then, finally came Techno. This way of tracing
down spaces, giving one the best possible chance of self-development, is the essential
reason for Ports presence being so unique. There?s no scene-dictated tunnel view in his
activities, there is only a pointed emphasis on style, on groove and sophistication. An
emphasis, that, because it?s informed by Dub, Danchall, Rap, Soul or even Psychedelic Rock,
is advanced enough to always shine through the inflationary characteristic of the genre as
notably original. That applies to both, his productions and his DJ-sets.
What Adam Port is laying his hands on might have its place within the parameters of House
and Techno, but it?s always more than that. It?s his style.

Fantastic Friends Rec / La Ruche // Lausanne (SUI)

We all know Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine, ?we have all heard of Rémus et Romulus.??Yes, Adolfo and Franky, they too are a two-person team, ?but let us never compare them to those who we already know. Their alliance is down to a point, ?a little point very much resemblant to that of Eros and Psyché.??This union gives life to something uncomparable, ?something that is both wonderful and devine at the sme time.?Because from our union an orphéon célesta is born, from which the rumors spreads so fast ?that all the surrounding stages are abandoned, the temples of music are emptied, ?and people from all over gather to witness and listen to this metaphysique duetto.??They are not real beaings nor real creatures. They simply just are! You will see ..

Diynamic Music // Zurich (SUI)

Adrian & Adrian, two guys from Zurich started off with music just like everyone
else by trying several instruments and scratching on grandfather’s turntable,
nothing special about that. Both were born in the mid 80’s when the techno
and house community was rising to the top.
90’s dance, hip-hop & house stuff influenced one of them. The other half was
more into melodic sounds and Europe based techno. On the road as solo
artists they met in 2008, found mutual connection with their interpretations and
became dj & production partners.
Harmony between Dj-ing, performance and immediate contact with the people
makes a good to a "better" dj. The self-proclaimed brothers have a sensible
feeling for the Clubheads, dance-a-holics and all the others, for which "music"
means attitude not just a word. They love to mix up different styles to make
their sets intensive, diversified and unique. Almost poetic, comparable with an
exciting story.
Their first Release on OFF Recordings got immediately strong feedbacks from
Toni Rios, Reboot, Ray Okpara, Brother’s Vibe & many more.
Adriatique are also featured on the highly anticipated second Release from
Diynamic’s Sublabel 2DIY4. Their groovy new- interpretation from Feist –
Honey, Honey is considered as one of the summer tracks 2011.
This was their kick-off to be also part of 2DIY4’s motherlabel Diynamic Music.
In addition to their musical-work & busy club-schedule Adriatique have their
monthly based event series „Moving Around Us“ in Zurich which has grown to
a meeting point for international guests, local talent, music & art.

Get Physical / Culprit / Nummer / New York (US)

Granted, a somewhat intense punk rock kid from Vegas into philosophy and Pynchon isn't the most likely candidate to become a club DJ, no less one of the leading American talents in the global electronic music underground, but that is the story of Francis Harris. Over 10 years ago, Francis quite accidentally "discovered" dance music and has approached the craft of DJing, composing and producing it with uncommon focus and dedication ever since. In the studio or the booth, Francis is known to be steadfast, thoughtful and purposeful; an uncompromising artist who takes his art seriously, even is it is "just" dance music. Over his career, that attitude and a fair bit of talent has earned Francis sustained critical notice and a loyal worldwide following. The scene's aficionados have long favored the dark yet moving, introspective excursions Francis delivers as "Adultnapper" for respected dance music labels like Poker Flat, Mule Electronic, Simple and his own boutique imprint, Ransom Note. When teamed with Mr. C of The Shamen as Sycophant Slags, a mischievous streak behind the foreboding Adultnapper persona emerges, evidenced in a string of punchy dance anthems the duo have recorded for Get Physical and Poker Flat, including the 2009 hit single and video "Keep Off."
Firmly established now with 50+ dancefloor-oriented EPs to his credit, including recent high-profile collaborations with M.A.N.D.Y., Francis is no less inspired to continually challenge convention and expand the boundaries of his creativity. 2010 proved a pivotal year in this regard, as Francis embarked on the recording of his first full length album. Titled "Leland," in tribute to his father, the album is a poi- gnant requiem featuring piano, guitar, cello, trumpet and vocals by Danish singer Gry. Although loosely based on house rhythms, "Leland" reaches beyond the club and in realizing this ambitious project, Francis forged new creative partnerships and rekindled a long dormant interest in songwriting, live instrumentation and performance, leading, in 2011, to the launch of Scissor and Thread.
Conceptually, S&T is an open-ended platform for "indie" artist development and album length releases, electronic or otherwise. A slew of talented and wide-ranging new artists are scheduled to debut on S&T in 2012, but for starters the label has focused on remixes from Francis' album by luminaries Matthew Herbert and NSI., as well as material by Jordan Lieb aka black light smoke, with whom Francis has collaborated on the production of "Leland," an as yet to be released full length solo album by former Beirut member Jason Poranski, and a series of EPs for Hafendisko, No. 19 and recently Poker Flat, who closed 2011 with the hit single and video, "Idiot Fair." Under a new alias, lightbluemover, Francis and Jordan launched an epic two man, all hardware live set, Francis' first ever, that forms the centerpiece of a series of S&T showcases that began with DC and Miami at Art Basel, and is continuing with blkmarket membership on New Year's Eve in NYC, BPM Festival and a January 14th turn at Fabric's room one.
Still another new project due from the label early in 2012 is Frank & Tony presents... the brainchild of Francis and S&T co-owner, Parisian DJ/producer, Anthony Collins. With F&T, the pair will explore the sexier side of house music, focusing on deep, slow and melodic tracks that feature various vocalists from the S&T roster. Without so much as one release, F&T have already garnered attention by DJing together under the moniker in NYC, Paris, Atlanta and soon in San Francisco.
Beyond his commercial music endeavors, Mr. Harris continues to score soundtracks for noted installa- tion artist Matthew Weinstein. His composition for "Chariots of the Gods," featuring the last recording of the late Natasha Richardson, debuted to great reviews at NYC's Sonnabend Gallery in Sept. '09. His second Weinstein commission, "The Childhood of Berthold Brecht," this time with actress Blair Brown on vocal debuted Sept. 2011, drawing praise from the New York Times.

Sincopat / Suara / Cecille / Vakant // Barcelona (ES)

In an age where previously million dollar studios have been condensed into laptop friendly software easily pirated by the tech savvy kids of today it is easy to see why many upcoming producers chase trends trying to hit it big quickly rather than spend years developing their own sonic palette. There is a reason why producers who fall into the trap, even the initially successful ones fade into obscurity almost as quickly as they emerge from it and that is because whilst fashions seem to change at an increasingly alarming rate, curiosity innovation and creativity are permanent. Marc Martinez Nadal known as AFFKT is an artist that feels falls into the latter category.
Committed to progress whilst showing a healthy respect for the past is one of AFFKT’s most unique audible features. Above all, AFFKT is synonymous with electronic music, as one of the scenes most active regenerators of contemporary house music; incorporating music from across the musical spectrum to form new amalgamations to create music that he feels, loves and knows. Considering fusion as one of the main aspects of artistic evolution, as he proved in his first hit “Points” on Barraca Music, and stunning the world with his brave innovation, technical sensuality and control of different sound tempos. Taking influence from Jazz, Soul, Latin, Pop and Funk amongst countless other genres.
Without the need to discredit classic or renown, through sound composition and experimentation, AFFKT gains access to unedited synthetic and organic spaces, where music finds new ways of expression on the dance floor and beyond. He considers fusion as one of the main aspects of artistic evolution, and stunning the world with his brave innovation, technical sensuality and control of different sound tempos. Since then he has not stopped producing and remixing for labels such as Get Physical, Bedrock, Noir music, Sincopat, Suara, Rekids, Buzzin fly, Mobilee, Cécille, Vakant, Mothership, Rebirth, OFF, International Freakshow, Perspectiv or Skint and for artists such as tech de Mathias Kaden, Radio Slave, Remute, Spencer Parker, or Noisia to just name a few.

At the same time, in his live and Dj shows, AFFKT displays a free and fascinating scope of influences, references and styles that create an unexpected wave of sound energy on any dance floor.

AFFKT has also created Sincopat to deepen and transcend the boundaries of dance music with other like-minded artists. Sincopat bets and believes in an emerging generation of eclectic artists -children of the thousand sounds- that do not fear the risk of exploring, just as it should be.
