RAMPA

Keinemusik | Souvenir | Rebirth // Berlin (DE)

It?s been quite a ride for Rampa over the last couple of years. When it comes to DJing, he never really
cared about the diehard dedication to the four to the floor-aesthetic, one can find among most
Technoheads. He preferred to be diehard dedicated to a whole lot more, be it Punkrock, be it HipHop,
be it any other suitable outlet for his genuine passion for music.
And when it comes to his status as a contemporary producer, some of those influences will always
shine through. Don?t get the wrong idea, most of his works meet all stylistic requirements of the current
Techhouse agenda, but still, his attitude and openness will easily define them as outstanding pieces.
From 2009 on, Rampa made a name of himself through Keinemusik, his own little d.i.y.-cosmos, being
not only label, but also crew of likeminded Djs, producers and friends. The teamwork within this realm
has seen a serious number of premier productions and collaborations, particularly with fellow producer
&ME, not to forget the rest of the bunch, Adam Port, David Mayer, Reznik and Monja.
Besides, he?s got some other collaborations under his belt. He produced an album with Nomi of
Hercules & Love Affair- and Jessica 6 fame. And he?s got the Rampa & Re.You Thing going on, a joint
venture with likeminded producer Re.You, which is not only their live-moniker, but also a prolific pairing
in production. They released various remixes plus tracks on Keinemusik, Souvenir, Gigolo and Strictly
Rhythm.
So, if he?s not spitting out new material, be it solo or in collabos, Rampa is likely to be found behind
some turntables between Berlin and New York, representing his own definition of Techno and House,
bridging the gap between deepness and elation. Never taking things too seriously, apart from those
serious grooves he?s got in his pockets.

RAY OKPARA

Mobilee Records - Oslo - Berlin (DE)

Percussions, drifty hypnotic beats, a touch of soul and marvellously deep.........house is a feeling and Ray Okpara has his finger firmly on the pulse, leading the way. Whilst his own roots are in Nigeria, it is actually Mannheim, Germany that Ray has helped put on the electronic music map, with a string of stellar productions on hot labels like Cécille, Oslo, Get Physical and Area Remote and an indomitable DJ style that has seen him rock out the world’s great modern clubbing arenas.

With Ray’s distinctive style, it’s no surprise to learn that his early influences were hip-hop, funk and soul before the nightlife escapades of he and long-time friend Johnny D truly awoke his strong interest in electronic music. Impressed by the many different genres, the first attempt on the turntables was actually using Johnny's UK Garage Records. But the passion was sparked and Ray and Johnny began their own party, RAJO, which was hugely popular throughout the Rhein Necker Delta.

Another friend, Nick Curly, joined RAJO in 2001 and 'The Loft’ residency began in Mannheim, where the first seeds of something monumental were unwittingly being sown. The Mannheim influence, and the time Ray has spent living there, is tangible; during these years the technical elements of Ray’s sets developed and the groove began to take shape, thankfully encompassing all the early influences like soul and funk.

Berlin was calling in 2005 and beginning 4 years living in the city, Ray really started to blossom musically. The heralded DJ performances were soon accompanied by productions, such as remixes for Johnny D on Oslo and 8-bit or the Italoboyz on Get Physical. His first EP, ‘Fumnaya on Lomidhigh Lmtd and releases like ‘Frozen on Yellow Ice’ (Arearemote) and ‘Loving Moonbauh’ (Drumpoet Community) were instrumental in Mannheim’s explosion in 2008.

On returning to Mannheim in 2009, his Brothers EP (Oslo) was a permanent fixture in clubs across the world in in the first half of the year and is one of the 2009’s most charted tracks on Resident Advisor. On the brink of beginning his live act in 2010, two further EPs, Brainows’ on Soweso and ‘Tru Crowd’ back on Area Remote put Ray Okpara on the front foot going into a new decade of continued house grooves and more good times.

A crowd teaser and crowd pleaser, constantly rocking it with music to make you smile and lose yourself in the moment, Ray Okpara is coming to get you and there is no hiding place.

RAZ OHARA

Shitkatapult, Kindisch, Get Physical - Berlin (DE)

Raz Ohara brings his unique style to Kindisch, in the form of the ‘See It Coming’ EP. Raz holds true to his style of
layering ghostly vocals with haunting melodies coupled with ambient percussive elements.

We begin the EP with its title track ‘See It Coming’, a colorful blend of melancholic tones on a chilled canvas of
percussion. As a perpetual melody drives, delicately laid vocals narrate the journey to the subconscious.

Next up we get ‘Deeper’, as Raz brings out the bass on this one. Dissonance and vocal chops harmonize over a
heavy kick. The deepest levels of our mind are explored and exploited with mechanical precision. Echo, reverb,
claps and full chords all play their part in making ‘Deeper’ sound exactly the way you would hope for.

Raz’s partner in crime and Journey To The Feathered Sun counterpart NU gives us his thoughts and perspective
in his remix of ‘See It Coming’ on the B side. With organic percussion and rhythmic intuition, NU provides us with
a dancier version of ‘See It Coming’. Heavy chords bring out the late night vibe, as Raz’s voice retains the
ambience of the original.

‘All’s Been Said (Tool Mix)’ is what we’re left with. A tense mix of pressure and eerie vocals. A rolling kick and
fuzzy synths take the level of intensity higher, as the vocals rise again, hi hats keep us on our feet as Raz takes
us to the edge of our minds.

RODRIGUEZ JR

Mobilee Records - Paris (FR)

Olivier Mateu's wide-ranging inspirations and interests find their ultimate outlet as Rodriguez Jr.,
positioning him as mobilee's new master of eclecticism.

As one half of French electro act The Youngsters – best known for their two studio albums and
singles for Laurent Garnier's F-Communications – Mateu has already received enough
plaudits and praise to last a lifetime. The Youngsters' award-winning productions catapulted them
into the international arena, taking them to some of the biggest clubs and festivals around the
world.

Rodriguez Jr. reveals a different incarnation of Mateu's musical psyche, one that strides ahead,
guided only by his kaleidoscopic vision; moving through shimmering, contemplative electronica,
to deep and urgent techno, leftfield melodic accents and quirky pop refrains, Rodriguez Jr. is the
by-product of an untamed brand of creativity and a thirst for the new and unexpected. Drawing
inspiration from artists as diverse as Stockhausen, LFO, Carl Craig, Eric Satie, Kraftwerk, and
Michael Polnareff, Rodriguez Jr.'s spirit of adventure translates as soaring creativity, and music
that cannot be pigeonholed.

Mateu manifests Rodriguez Jr. in his MLab Mk5 studio, which brims with vintage synthesizers
and dusty analog gear. Acclaimed Rodriguez Jr. releases for imprints such as Mothership, Boxer
Records and Giant Wheels, prefaced the quirky melodies of his bass-driven house hit Princess
Guacamole for mobilee records, and the tropical techno of Kids of Hula for it's sister label
Leena Music. Drawing both pleasure and inspiration from live performance, Rodriguez Jr.
relishes the opportunity to realize his project on the stage, and has done extensively throughout
Europe and America. This year it will also be fully realized in the studio, as he will release his
debut album on mobilee in the Summer.

As he restlessly seeks out the ultimate intersection between all of his disparate influences, Mateu
explains it best: "Good electronic music is not a jail," he says,  "It should be enjoyable
everywhere, from dancefloors to living rooms, and by everybody." Now an integral part of the
mobilee family, Mateu will continue to channel his vision, passion, and love of music into all that
he does, and all that will come.
