Compost Records - FREIBURG (DE)
Innovator, pioneer, musical connoisseur, trend setter, snappy dresser and all round good egg, this man's been at it for time and shows no signs of stopping now....
Former member of internationally renowned project – A Forest Mighty Black, compiler of the still highly regarded Glucklich compilations on Compost (how many of us got switched on to so much through these), co compiler on "Talkin Jazz 3" with Gilles for Talkin Loud, has one of the most ridiculous record collections ever – as featured in the German edition of Playboy – utilised by many big hitters over the years as source material for their own productions – Jazzanova, Kruder, Christian Prommer, Roland Appel to name a few, been an intergral part of the mighty Truby Trio and been DJing since the early 90's, playing all over the world whilst also maintaining his legendary Rootdown clubnight which has played host to the great and the good including Carl Craig, Theo Parrish, Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Dixon, Ame – you get the picture!!
DJ wise, for those of you that have checked him, you'll know this man knows how to rock the bells...for those that haven't :
Rainer Trueby is a former member of Germany's Compost-project.
He is a real vinyl-junkie and has compiled the fantastic and still in-demand European-Jazz Brazil fusion compilations Gluecklich-Vol. I, – IV, and the Nitrogen – Trip Hop Sources From The Past-compilation with Placebo and Michael Bundt for Compost.
He also compiled with Gilles Peterson Talkin' Jazz – Vol. 3 on Talkin' Loud. After a split with A Forest Mighty Black, he has enforced and developed his own project on Compost called Traby Trio (which is in fact Rainer Trüby & Fauna Flash).
Compost's Fauna Flash are the first German drum & bass outfit getting props from the Metalheadz posse and their tracks are played by DJs like Peshay, Kemistry & Storm, Fabio, Grooverider, Kabuki and are listed by Gilles Peterson´s personal charts in Straight No Chaser. In his personal Top 3-DJ chart, Gilles Peterson voted Rainer Trueby for the best DJ in the world in 1998!
Their style is somewhere between Jazz, Brazil, Nu-Disco, Boogie and Downbeat, but always the connoisseur deep root down stuff.
